RENTAL GUIDE

Where, how and when? Renting a boat can lead to many questions, especially for those who do not have much experience at the helm. This is why we have collected our customers’ most frequently asked questions and provided answers.

Furthermore, during check-in you will get a briefing about Lake Garda, its navigation rules and once on board our staff will explain in detail how your boat works. A map and a guide will always be at hand to guide you through moorings, sightseeing areas, petrol stations and shallow waters.

Reservations and Payments

RESERVATIONS

How can I book a boat, and is an advance payment required for reservation?

Reservation methods depend on the duration of the rental:

  • For short rentals (periods of less than 3 days) we recommend you to go directly to our front-office, or to book through our online booking www.gardarent.it
  • For rentals of 3 or more days we recommend you to book in advance by e-mail (especially in medium- and high-season, and we require an advance payment to confirm the rental).
What does the rental price include?

Prices are inclusive of: use of boat, VAT and statutory taxes, liability insurance and KASKO (there is a franchise of € 600-2.500 on damages caused by the tenant).
Prices also include launching, hauling, briefing, final cleaning, delivery and collection at Porto Torchio (Manerba del Garda).

Moreover, the rental includes mooring in the Gulf of Manerba near the harbour, where we have mooring buoys (contact us for details of the available ones).
For buoys located in Porto Torchio a tender service is available from 9am till 6.30pm, with no extra charge.

What does not the rental price include?

Prices don’t include:
– fuel consumed during the rental;
– damages of the boat caused by improper or negligent use;
– loss of equipment;
– penalties for delays in returning the boat.

What types of payment are accepted?

Rental fees can be paid in cash, by credit card (only VISA and Mastercard), debit cards or bancomat.

The deposit (franchise) can be paid in cash or by traditional credit cards (with embossed numbers) belonging to the VISA and Mastercard circuits.

Franchise

Is it necessary to leave a deposit, and how?

The tenant has to pay a deposit (franchise) in cash or by traditional credit cards (with embossed numbers) belonging to the VISA and Mastercard circuits.

Amounts:

  • € 600, for the model BRAVA 18 (rental length for maximum 1 day);
  • € 1.500, for the following boats: BRAVA 18 (from 2 days on), VOYAGER 19S, CAPELLI FREEDOM e BAYLINER 185;
  • € 2.000, for BAYLINER VR5 and SEA RAY 220;
  • € 2.500, for the other SEA RAY boats.

The deposit will be returned at the end of the rental, if the boat, the engine and the equipment on board are returned in the same conditions in which they were delivered at the beginning: without damages and with the whole board equipment.

Requirements and Conditions

AGE REQUIRED

Is a minimum / maximum age required for rental?

To rent our boats a minimum age of 25 is required.

PERSONS ON BOARD

How many persons can get on board, and are children counted as adults?

Our website shows the features of all the models of boat available for hiring, including the maximum capacity of persons on board.

However, we recommend you not to occupy a boat with the maximum capacity allowed, to ensure maximum comfort and enjoyment of navigation to all passengers.

In any case, children on board are counted as adults (we provide lifejackets suitable for children with no extra charge).

DOGS

Can I bring my dog on board?

Dogs are permitted on some of our boats with extra charge (€ 20 per rental). For details, we advise you to ask us directly before reservation.

LICENSE

Is it necessary to have a boat license for the rental, and what are the valid licenses for navigation on Lake Garda?

For 40 HP boats, an ID is enough, while for more powerful boats we require an original boat license.

The valid boat licenses for navigation on Lake Garda are the following:

  • German;
  • Dutch;
  • Belgian;
  • Austrian.

In Italy, boat licenses coming from Croatia and / or Slovenia are not considered valid.

In any case, we ask you to send us a copy of the license by e-mail before confirmation.
If the customer does not present the original copy of the license before the rental, Nautica Benaco has the right to refuse the delivering of the boat.

DOCUMENTS

Which documents and procedures are necessary for the rental?

It is always necessary to present an original identity document (Identity Card, Passport or Driving License).
For boats over 40 HP, it is necessary to present at the briefing a boat license valid for Lake Garda (it is better to send us a front-back photo of your boat driving license).

How does the delivery of the boat take place?

Upon delivery, our staff provides a presentation of the navigation rules with a map of the lake, and checks the boat with the customer.
Any defect or damage, and the level of petrol will be noted on a report.
In the end we will proceed to the explanation of the use of the boat and the equipment on board, before the delivery.

We also provide tender service from our office to the harbour, without any extra charge.

How does a hire day take place (collection and delivery times)?

Boats are available to customers from 9am of the first day until 5pm of the last day.
For 1 day rentals, boats must be returned no later than 6pm.

UNEXPECTED

What happens in case of change / cancellation / damage / fine / delay / accident / bad weather?

The customer must inform us as soon as possible for any booking change, which we are happy to accept in case of availability.

If you need to cancel your reservation, Nautica Benaco has the right to charge the entire booking advance payment.

In particular:

  • For cancellations communicated within 60 days before the rental period, we charge € 50;
  • For cancellations communicated between 60 and 30 days before the rental, we keep 50% of the advance payment;
  • For cancellations communicated in the last 30 days before the rental, we charge the total advance payment.

In case of damage, the customer must call us as soon as possible, and Nautica Benaco has the right to charge a part of the deposit.

In case of fine, the customer must contact us immediately and provide us with a detailed explanation of the event.

Even if the customer is late in returning the boat, we have to be called in time.

In case of an accident, it is necessary to write a report together with the driver of the other boat involved, including the signature of both, and a possible witness.
It is also necessary to get to know about the name and address of the insurance company of the other driver.
In case of bad weather on the day of the boat delivery, you can add the lost day to the end of the rental period, providing the boat is still available.
Otherwise the first day will not be charged.
If there is bad weather during the rental period, we are not required to return the amount paid, nor part of it.

Features and Equipment

Is there radio / Bimini Top on board?

All our boats are equipped with a stereo system and Bimini Top, for maximum comfort on board.
The accessories are shown in detail on the web pages of every single boat.

What is the onboard equipment?

All boats are fitted with complete safety equipment: ropes, fenders, anchor with rope, life belt with 30m rope, set of flares, 2 paddles with hooks, first aid box and life jackets.

On request we also provide life jackets for children, without any extra charge.

Navigation and Rules

What happens in case of change / cancellation / damage / fine / delay / accident / bad weather?

The customer must inform us as soon as possible for any booking change, which we are happy to accept in case of availability.

The customer is responsible for the safe and correct use of the boat and its equipment.
He also has to follow the instructions and rules that are given to him upon delivery.

If the customer notices any problem during navigation, such as water infiltration, temperature increase, vibrations or unusual noises, he must contact us immediately by telephone.

The boat must be returned at the time and place previously agreed on the rental contract.
We ask you therefore to call us in case of problems or delay in the return of the boat.

Navigation rules are presented by our staff along with an orientative map of Lake Garda, during the briefing that will take place before the delivery of the boat.

In particular, on the map will be provided information about the presence of reefs, petrol stations, harbours and mooring buoys.

According to the 1st September 2021 decree (published in “Gazzetta Ufficiale” on 15th January 2022) it is established that it is forbidden to use rental boats for waterskiing / wakeboarding and the towing of any floating object for pleasure purposes.

Is the boat insured?

All our boats are insured by RC and KASKO, the tenant is expected to pay a deposit (franchise) of an amount between € 600 and € 2.500, depending on the model and length of the rental period.
The insurance does not cover personal objects of the client.

PETROL CONSUMPTION

How much does a boat consume, and is petrol included in the rental price?

The average consumption for 40 HP boats is 6/7 liters per hour; as regards more powerful boats, instead, we recommend you to contact us directly for information about consumption.
Petrol is not included in the rental price: we deliver all our boats with full tank, and in the end we will take care of the refueling, which must be paid in cash.

Where can I park my car?

Our customers can use our private parking place in Via Belvedere 4 (Manerba Del Garda) without extra charge.
The transfer to the harbour will be offered by our tender service, which is free of charge.
